IESANZ Lighting Awards - The Red Fence, Auckland
Thursday September 11, 2014 KKDC New Zealand working with designers Light Works, complete this elegant project, now entered for the Heritage section of the IESANZ National Lighting Awards.
Commissioned by Auckland Council, the project required a fast, sensitive and robust solution to unify and retrofit the 100 yr old gas lighting columns running the length of Quay Street and help transform this historic area.
The custom assembly - built around KKDC’s adaptable SEN units - lights both the lamp heads and the ornate features of the columns and required substantial additional fabrication and wiring. To produce this for installation in situ whilst allowing removal for planned refurbishment was a tough brief and was achieved with economy and style. Good luck in the awards!
