Land Marked By Lights

Tuesday September 29, 2015
KKDC are proud to have supplied their LED and control systems which are used in the distinctive new podium design at 45 Queen Street, Auckland. The design and installation has been entered into the IESANZ 2015 awards.

The project comprises of luxury/high end retail integrated with a high quality atrium lobby space and café/restaurant which has seen the transformation of a key Auckland CBD office tower whilst cementing lower Queen Street as Auckland’s luxury precinct.

SOLUTION
Creation of an even and consistent panel of light within a restricted depth meant a traditional backlit light-box design was not possible. S&T worked with Linear LED specialists KKDC to integrate a high power linear format rigid RGB SEN and FX RGB products within the existing geometry of the Glazing profile. This was paired with Plexiglas Endlighten Cast Acrylic sheet, with precise specification of thickness and density to suit the throw required. Contact between the LED source and the Polished Acrylic edge was critical to ensure maximum light entered the system.

OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
Colour control is via DMX512, with KKDC VisDim High frequency PWM control gear selected for accurate low-level control and flicker free fading.
